About the Press
The editorial activity of the University of Aveiro began to be regulated in 1996, through Rectorial Order nº7-R/96, of February 26, which created the Editorial Committee. In 2001, the coordination of editorial activity was entrusted to the João Jacinto de Magalhães Foundation and when it was dissolved in 2012, it was transferred to the Library, Documentary Information and Museology Services (SBIDM).
This same editorial activity later became individualized under the name UA Press, becoming the publisher of the University of Aveiro.
UA Press' mission is to promote the creation, development and dissemination of knowledge in the various areas of knowledge, through the editing of content in the most appropriate media, prioritizing open access.
Taking as a reference the general lines of scientific, cultural and pedagogical policy defined by the competent governing bodies of the University, it develops the following activities:
- Program, coordinate and guide the publication of works of cultural, technical, artistic, scientific and pedagogical-didactic interest and character;
- Develop activities and promote cultural, technical, artistic, scientific and pedagogical-didactic and promotional initiatives that fit its purposes;
- Coordinate the editing process of scientific journals published at UA.
